Dr Bernard Hurley VIDEO Ophthalmologist, Ottawa
Dr. Hurley is an ophthalmologist and retinal specialist whose clinical and academic work focuses on diabetic retinopathy, age-related macular degeneration, retinal imaging, and surgical education.
He completed his medical degree at the University of Western Ontario, followed by ophthalmology residency at the University of Ottawa and a Vitreo-Retinal Fellowship at Wills Eye Hospital, where he received the Outstanding Fellow Award twice.
Dr. Hurley is an Assistant Professor at the University of Ottawa and a Clinician Investigator at the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute (OHRI). He serves as Fellowship Program Director and OMT Program Medical Director, and previously served as Residency Program Director. He is also Vice-Chair of the Royal College Ophthalmology Exam Committee and CME Director for the Canadian Retina Society.
His work combines clinical expertise, research, education, and innovation, with a particular emphasis on advancing retinal care and training the next generation of ophthalmologists.
