Dr. Maziar Badii Rheumatologist Vancouver BC
Dr. Maziar Badii is a member of the Division of Rheumatology at the University of British Columbia (UBC), with a cross-appointment in the Department of Radiology. His clinical and research interests focus on degenerative and inflammatory conditions affecting the hip, knee, and spine.
Dr. Badii has a particular interest in advancing rheumatologic care through the evaluation of emerging procedures and technologies. His research includes the study of innovative interventions such as geniculate artery embolization (GAE), as well as emerging technologies including near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS), wearable devices, and smart apparel.
Beyond his academic and clinical work, Dr. Badii has held leadership roles in musculoskeletal health and rheumatology. He is a past president of the Northwest Rheumatism Society and a former director of Musculoskeletal Health at the Occupational Health and Safety Agency for Healthcare in BC.
In recognition of his contributions to innovation in rheumatology, Dr. Badii received the 2023 Polaris Award for Innovation in Rheumatology. His work reflects a commitment to translating emerging technologies and novel procedures into improved approaches to the assessment and management of musculoskeletal disease.
