Dr. Ratika Parkash is an outcomes and clinical trials researcher specializing in atrial fibrillation (AF) and cardiac implantable electronic devices. She previously served as Chair of the Canadian Heart Rhythm Society Device Committee, where she led Canadian research investigating the Riata implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD) lead manufactured by St. Jude Medical. Her retrospective survey of Riata leads was accepted for publication in Heart Rhythm in 2013.

Dr. Parkash’s research focuses on improving clinical outcomes in patients with atrial fibrillation and advancing evidence-based approaches to its management. She is the principal investigator and lead author of Atrial Substrate Modification With Aggressive Blood Pressure Lowering to Prevent AF, a CIHR-funded, multicentre clinical trial evaluating whether intensive blood pressure reduction can reduce atrial fibrillation in patients undergoing catheter ablation. She is also a co-investigator on IMPACT-AF, contributing to research aimed at improving the management and outcomes of patients with atrial fibrillation.
