Power of postive thinking and the mind.
- Emotional Distress: A cancer diagnosis can lead to feelings of fear, worry, anger, and helplessness, significantly affecting emotional well-being.
- Increased Risk of Disorders: Men diagnosed with prostate cancer have a higher risk of developing mental health disorders, with some studies showing this risk can persist for many years after diagnosis.
- Treatment-Related Anxiety: The process of diagnosis, treatment decisions, and ongoing monitoring (like PSA checks) can all trigger anxiety.
- Chronic Pain and Stress: This condition is associated with high levels of stress, depression, and anxiety due to chronic pain and a diminished quality of life, according to a National Institutes of Health (NIH) study.

This summary reflects the typical warning signs of kidney cancer (most commonly renal cell carcinoma).
A couple of useful clarifications:
- Early stages often cause no noticeable symptoms, which is why many cases are found incidentally on imaging.
- Blood in the urine (hematuria) is one of the most common signs, but it may come and go.
- Persistent flank or lower back pain usually appears later, as the tumor grows.
- Unexplained weight loss, fatigue, and fever are more general cancer-related symptoms and tend to occur in more advanced disease.
- A palpable mass (lump) in the side or abdomen is less common nowadays because tumors are often detected earlier.
- Leg swelling can happen if the tumor affects nearby veins (like the inferior vena cava), but this is relatively uncommon.
It’s also worth noting that these symptoms are not specific to kidney cancer—they can be caused by more common and less serious conditions (like infections or kidney stones). Still, persistent or unexplained symptoms should be evaluated by a healthcare professional.
