Dr. Goldenberg is a Canadian consultant endocrinologist and clinical researcher specializing in diabetes, obesity, dyslipidemia, and thyroid disorders. He is affiliated with in Vaughan/Concord, Ontario. He completed his MD at the University of Toronto in 1984, followed by residency training in Internal Medicine and fellowship training in Endocrinology and Metabolism at the University of Toronto. He has held Royal College certification in Internal Medicine since 1988 and Endocrinology and Metabolism since 1989.

Dr. Goldenberg has had an extensive career in clinical research, serving as principal investigator in more than 150 clinical trials involving diabetes, hypertension, obesity, and dyslipidemia. His research and publications have included emerging therapies for type 2 diabetes and obesity, including GLP-1–based treatments.

He has also played a significant role in the development and dissemination of Canadian diabetes guidance. He served on the Diabetes Canada Clinical & Scientific Section Executive Committee, contributed to the 2013 and 2018 Diabetes Canada Clinical Practice Guidelines, and was lead author of the March 2016 interim update on diabetes pharmacologic management.

Beyond research and clinical care, Dr. Goldenberg has been actively involved in continuing medical education, with an emphasis on translating clinical evidence into practical patient care. He received the 2021 Diabetes Canada Gerald S. Wong Service Award in recognition of his contributions.

His recent scholarly work continues to focus on diabetes and obesity therapeutics. For example, he was corresponding author of a review examining high-dose GLP-1 receptor agonists and GLP-1–based co-agonists for type 2 diabetes, obesity, and metabolic liver disease, published in Obesity Reviews.
